If you’re okay with buying an electric bike from a company that started in the sewing machine business, that’s your business, but bicycle purists might doubt your seriousness as a rider. Maybe the company that you’re thinking of buying from converted over from the Davis Sewing Machine Company to bike production awhile back, in the “bicycle craze” of 1892, though, and so they’ve been making Huffy bikes for a very long time. Cycle purists will still doubt, but you can be confident your bike was built by a company that’s made a few bikes - Huffy’s 30 millionth bicycle has been in the Smithsonian Institute museum since 1979. There’s no question this company has been around the block a time or two in the bike biz.

Huffy gets credit for the first ‘training wheels’ on their Convertible Bike, way back in 1949. They paired up electronics and pedal-powered transportation back in 1955 with a battery-powered radio onboard a bike, so riders could roll with their rock on. In the 21st century, Huffy added electric bikes to their diverse lineup.

Four electric models are available on their website, including the Oslo, a small-tire compact folding eBike for commuters, and the Transic, Huffy’s take on an electric mountain bike with a front suspension fork and a battery the size of an early 90s car phone It’s removable, so you can avoid thieves having access to it when parked in public. And the Everett comfort bike with swept-back high handlebars and a similar block battery pack on the down tube is available in high bar and step-through models.
