Since 2012, Vela has worked from their original home base in Sao Paulo, Brazil with the goal of creating integrated and connected electric bicycles that grant greater freedom of mobility with classic bike style. Since expanding their global presence, they call Brooklyn, New York home as well, while still maintaining the same sophisticated yet casual look and feel of the eBike that they’ve become known for.

In the ten years since their start, they’ve built and sold thousands of eBikes that have provided millions of miles (or kilometers, depending on where in the world you measure your progress) of joyful riding. Built with a desire to integrate modern eBike technology in a subtle way that doesn’t call attention to itself, Vela began prototyping their second-generation eBike in 2017, with new technology to create a connected, smart eBike linked to the company’s app.
