Ride1Up Roadster V2 Review

Ride1Up introduced their Roadster v2 in 2020, and it has been very well received.

Expert Review :

Roadster v2 by Ride1Up – Streamlined Design that Light on Weight and Price.

Ride1Up introduced their Roadster v2 in 2020, and it has been very well received. Its light weight and light price make it both easy on the wallet and easy to carry up stairs. The Roadster v2 is a stealthy class 3 electric bike with a concealed battery that disguises its electric power. The Roadster’s streamlined design makes it hard to notice that you’re even riding an e-bike. You may be the only one who knows.

Design

The Roadster v2 was designed with the urban cyclist in mind and specifically for cyclists who commute. It does excellent in these flat settings, and the top speed maxes out at 25 mph. Its light weight frame makes it easy to carry with you to and from work, home, or anywhere there are stairs.

The battery is totally concealed, and the motor is almost impossible to hear. It has a sleek and stealthy frame that makes the Roadster v2 appear as if it is not an e-bike at all!

Again one of the most critical aspects of the design of the Roadster v2 is its weight. It weighs only 32 pounds! Most e-bikes, even those designed to be lightweight, still average around fifty pounds. Features like Samsung 35e cell batteries, geared hub Shengyi motor, and belt drive help keep the Roadster v2 light as a feather…relatively speaking.

Features

Many of the features of the Roadster v2 are designed to maintain its weight at a super low level. This e-bike offers a streamlined frame with minimal features such as an LCD display and a belt drive.

Power

The concealed internal Samsung C35e cell batteries are an essential feature because they heighten the lightweight frame’s ability. The batteries are great for acceleration and a few moderate or rolling hills, but it is not suitable for rides with many large hills or mountainous terrains. The batteries are removable (from the bottom of the frame), but they are not designed to be frequently removed. The Shengyi motor is a 500w (peak) 350W (sustained) motor, and it has 40nm torque. The engine is super lightweight, very quiet, and doesn’t rapidly drain the e-bike’s batteries.

Most riders find that they do get about 40 miles of riding before their battery is depleted; however, these are generally more experienced riders. It may take you some time to learn to assist in the most advantageous way for your conserving your batteries during your rides. Users did find this e-bike to be easy to pedal due to its design and light weight.

Belt Drive

Many similar e-bikes have a chain drive, but the Roadster v2 is designed with a belt drive. The apparent reason here is that it does save on weight, but there are a few other advantages to this as well. For one thing, it will not rust and is more durable than a chain, and will require less maintenance. Another advantage is belt drives collect less dirt and dust and don’t require grease. This can help avoid getting your hands and pant legs dirty.

Compact LCD Display

Another awesome feature of the Roadster v2 is the compact LCD display. The LCD is located on the left handlebars, and it is where you can change the pedal-assist levels; it also gives you other information such as the battery level, distance, and speed.

It is imperative to note that you should never grab hold of the back of the display mount to lift the Roadster v2. The display mount is not made to withstand this kind of weight or pressure and will crack. If this happens, the LCD display will be unstable, and you will have to have it repaired before subsequent use.

Pros:

  • Price

The Roadster v2 is generally sold for around $1,000, give or take a few dollars, and depending on exactly where you purchase it. This is the kind of price you would expect for a starter e-bike, while you end up with a model that performs at a much higher level and has features often found on more expensive bikes, such as the LCD and the belt drive.

  • Batteries and Motor

The batteries and motor are both a pro and a con. They are a pro because of how lightweight they are and their ability to be stealthy and deceptively well hidden within the frame.

  • Weight

At just 32 pounds, this is one of the lightest e-bikes on the market and by far the only one that has features like this!

  • Style/Appearance

By all accounts, you can not tell this is an electric bike by looking at it. The motor is so quiet that you will barely hear it, and the cell batteries are hidden within the frame. The minimalist design is perfect for those looking to keep it low-key and not shout out “I’m riding an e-bike!

Cons:

  • Power

This e-bike was designed for flat terrain, so taking it into mountainous areas will not give you the best results. You may find the Roadster v2 lacks the power to handle this type of situation.

  • LCD Display

The display looks to be stronger than it is. The display mount is strong enough to hold the display in place; however, not the bike’s weight should you grab onto it when lifting the e-bike.

  • Style Options

The Roadster v2 comes in two sizes and three colors. Most of the other electric bikes out today have many more options in color, and most have more size options. Riders under 5’5″ have reported the smallest size too big for them.

The User-Friendly Roadster v2

This is an excellent e-bike for the price you are paying. It has a cool, streamlined design. If you are looking for a stylish and well-priced electric bike you can use to commute to and from work and local areas, this is a perfect choice.

You will find that this is a very user-friendly way to go. The assembly is quick and easy, usually taking less than two hours from unboxing to riding. The ride is smooth and quiet. With just a little experience, almost anyone can get maximum use out of this fun electric bike!
