Ride1Up 700 Review + Coupon

Class 3 Hybrid E-bike

Expert Review :

The Ride1Up 700 model for 2022 is refined, not remade. It’s got all of the good things its predecessor possessed and some little improvements. As the flagship model from a company known for making well-built products with quality components at a very fair price, Ride1Up 700 has been a notable eBike value for a few years now, and nothing has changed in that area.

With its large and bright 2.2″ display on the left side of the handlebars, the 700 informs you of all the critical metrics in eBiking. You’ve got your battery charge, Pedal Assist Setting, speed, odometer, and more available at a glance. Near the display is the thumb throttle, just waiting for you to give it the go and power your ride with or without pedal assist.

Facts and Details

The 672Wh battery is neatly built inside the 700’s downtube for a very sleek frame presentation. Charge it up via a plug-in port on the side for an in-bike recharge, or use the keys provided to remove the secure portable battery and take it inside to charge up. It’ll take a few hours, so think in terms of overnight, not during lunchtime, to get a full recharge, from nearly drained all the way to full up.

You’ve got a frame choice of step over or step through with a low top bar. Both share similar classic geometry with upright seating, and good handlebar reach to make the ride position comfortable and to provide useful space for riders sized from 5’5″ up to 6’2″ or so.

The hydraulic front suspension with 100 millimeters of travel helps to soften out the bumps in the road, although the 700 is no off-road beast. Stopping is quick and confident on the 700 series with Tektro 180mm hydraulic disc brakes. The brake lever triggers a motor-off feature, so all the power goes to stopping.

PROS

  • Nice specs: : All the components built standard on the 700 are known qualities, from the Shimano eight-speed drivetrain to Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, this ride's got the goods. Not the best of the best, naturally…that would cost thousands of dollars more, and there are bikes you can get with all the top-shelf tricks for a few thousand bucks more if that's your thing.
  • Sweet spot:: Ride1Up 700 hits a lot of good notes with its attention to detail and price in the sweet spot below two thousand dollars, which not a lot of eBikes can get to with this level of quality componentry.
  • Lights on:: Among the values on the 700 are the essential details they didn't leave off, like a bright front headlight and integrated rear light for added safety, a sturdy rear rack, and front and rear fenders for all-weather riding.

CONS

  • Delivery:: Ride1Up claims that you'll get your 700 in a box on your doorstep with only about 15% remaining to assemble. There's a fair amount of room for error in that final fifteen percent of eBike assembly, though, so for some people, that is a big hurdle. True, there are helpful videos and manuals available, and most people know at least one person who can turn a wrench okay. You can go directly to your local bike shop for the final build to start a good relationship between you, the bike pros, and your new investment in eBike tech with the 700 and have them build the last 15% of your ride.
  • Weight:: While it's not the heaviest eBike going, the 700 tips the scales at 62 pounds, which is a bit to lift, whether it's right out of the box when it is delivered or regularly, when you own it, to get it up on a bike rack or for storage or transport.

Final Thoughts

Hitting the sweet spot with a price of around $1700 and a lot of good solid components in the deal, Ride1Up 700 makes an attractive package. For a recreational rider who wants a good reason to roll out for regular rides or a mid-range commuter who wants to ease into the ride to work, this bike has a lot to offer at an excellent price.
